Butt Emergency Update

as for trevors rear....it was SO much better this past weekend...all those creams and sprays really seemed to have worked....

but today i noticed that he has chafing...like raw spots....on either side of his, um...how do i say this? sack? and again in the same spots on the rounded (towards the inside) of his cheeks.

I suggested to terry that maybe it is from skin against skin rubbing? if it's moist wouldn't that make it worse? (he used to be an amateur bike racer so i thought he might have some insight, but he hasn't said much since i posed these questions)....

so.....what to do for chafing? treat it like rash? go in a different direction?

ARUGH!! little boys and their bits!!!

ps - thanks jennie for the advice...I will be looking around to see if I can find any Domo....and also thanks to Becky for suggesting Triple Paste...need to find that online too!

Two Toofers fer Trevor

Well...my first tooth cut through on the weekend of MLK Jr.'s birthday weekend....

My SECOND tooth cut through this past weekend...Mommy and Daddy didn't even notice, but it certainly explains why I was such a nightmare on Friday night.

Mommy and I were shopping today and I was screeching or chewing on my Gerber rubber spoon (the best invention ever!) and Mommy was like..."Hey! What's going on in there?!"

She then took the time to put her fingers in my mouth to try to get me to show her what I now have...which is TWO TEETH!!!

Rock n Roll Aquarium - Part II

If you look back, there was the first post of me playing with my RnR Aqua Gym...I was SO small back then...I could barely do anything except lay there and enjoy the music...

But now...look at how big I am. I sit up on it now and I like to pull the fish and rattles off of the frame and throw them around. The yellow frame that spins to the music is like a steering wheel and I LOVE to try and get it to turn in the opposite direction than how it is supposed to turn. Mommy says that is going to be the first toy casualty. I think it will hold up just fine. But we'll see....

Mommy's friend Jenny said her little boy Allen loves this toy too and he used to sit up on it and pretend he was driving...I like doing that now too.

My Big Boy Baths

Since I am a big boy now, at 7 months, I get to use my big boy bath seat. This is the second time I have been in it....I think it's pretty cool....

I like to lean over and swish my hands in the water and splash around some. I love to watch the water come out of faucets (anytime...kitchen, bathroom sink...tub...) it's just really fascinating!!!

Mommy says she is going to look into getting me a more comfortable bath seat, but this one seems to do okay for right now....I love taking baths and I especially love to play with those cloths...I usually have one to play with while I get washed up. I love bath time...it just keeps getting better and better!!

Master of Disaster

I'm only 7 months old now, but I'm already being called, "The Master of Disaster."

I can sit up fairly well on my own, I'm teething like crazy (with one cut and a second one working its way), I'm eating all kinds of cool foods and just now getting used to drinking water (I didn't enjoy it too much before....as long as it's not in a bottle, I will drink it...but DON'T put it in my bottle...those are just for milk!)

I like to pull and turn things the wrong way on my toys and I am on my way to breaking my first few.....

Here I am on my 7th month "birthday".....

It's Official!!

The crib has been disassembled and is now in the basement with all of the other crap we have stored down there.

And just as well, since I hated that piece of junk... ... ...maybe that's why he refused to sleep in it.

A Butt Emergency

Okay...Trevor has super sensitive skin...he develops prickly heat rashes within minutes of entering a warm environment...we JUST got his cheeks taken care of - thanks in part to some all natural eczema cream and a humidifier.

But his butt rash has been a point of extra concern for us...his chronic diaper rash has been viewed by his doctor a few times and various medicinal creams and lotions have been given...to no avail.

Diaper brands have been changed...using wipes, not using wipes, cold water cloths, hot water cloths...aveeno, desitin, cornstarch, vaseline...

Earlier this week...everything looked good...things were clearing up...the rash ceased to crawl up the back of his thighs.....until.....this afternoon.....

I changed him and his rash had ulcerated!!!

Poor boy had open wounds all along his cheeks and slightly up his thighs....

I got on the phone and called Terry at work to let him know I was contacting the doctor and getting Trevor in today...naturally, no answer at the Doc's office...just a message I could not understand. I call friends, " do you know any pediatricians?" I get a few different numbers...NO ANSWER AT ANY OFFICE. This is when my calm escalates to a minor panic.

Terry rolls in at a super-sonic pace and takes the phone from me... "I haven't been able to get a hold of ANYONE!!" - just to let him know so he won't be disappointed when it happens to him. Of course...I hear Terry talking to the nurses at the front desk of our Doctor's office and I am like, only Terry, man...only Terry.

So, we get Trevor in without much difficulty and Dr. Wild takes a peek, gasps - draws in a breath and says, "uh, yeah...that's not good." Duh!

After some discussion about how sensitive Trev's skin in (we know) and verifying that it had nothing to do with anything that he ate, no new lotions, no new detergents...the regular run down, she gives us 3 different prescriptions to try out and if those three don't work, a back-up prescription for steroid cream - since the weekend is coming up and if things don't look better.

How do I feel about this? I'm not sure...I think a part of me really wanted to see a different doc just for a different opinion since nothing she has given us up until now has really worked...is she taking this problem more seriously now? Did it really need to get to the point of ulcers?

At least the boy has been in really good spirits today...a great mood, eating well, taking quality naps....he doesn't seem too bothered other than when we apply the cream...which is expected.

So.....a butt emergency....never a dull moment around here!

Big Hair and Football

I have a lot of hair...and sometimes it is just a little crazy...like today!

Mommy and I watched the replay of the playoff games and I epsecially enjoyed the Patriots/Colts game....what a comeback (at least that is what Mommy tells me...)

And in a couple of weeks...the last game of the season is playing and I cannot wait! Hopefully the sports channel will have a replay of that game too, 'cause I think I am going to be sleeping like an angel in my new bed that night...

Trevor's New Bed

Yes...we were co-sleeping with Trevor for the past few months. He had been in his crib, in his room...but somehow he ended up in our bed and was very comfortable in there. He slept through the night, never had any pacifier emergencies and we all got decent sleep.

But then, Terry and I kept debating on what we were to do to get Trevor out of our bed and indpendently sleeping...

It has been a tough process as Trevor has become a very clingy little boy. He will fall asleep holding our hands and needs the reassurance that one of us is in there with him. Major problems, right? No joke!!

We have tried it all...letting him fall asleep in our bed then transferring him to the crib...no way! as soon as he hit the mattress he was wide awake and screaming.

We put the crib next to the bed and I would put him down and hold his hand until he was calm enough to start the way to sleep - nope. As soon as I took my hand away, wide awake and screaming.

So, Saturday night, Terry and I made the major decision of putting the crib back into Trevor's room and we were going to do the "Ferber" method to get him independently sleeping. We both agreed the next couple of weeks were going to be absolute misery, but it needed to be done. SO ~~

The first couple of hours....Trevor is sleeping soundly. Then, from around 10.30pm to 1.00am we had the screaming and crying and upscaled screaming...it sounded like monkeys fighting outside our house.....I couldn't take it any longer. (Imagine, going through this every night - ALL NIGHT - for at least one week?! Terry would get fired and I would lose my mind and pull out all of my hair.)

So, back into our bed Trevor went and out like a light he was. Spoiled rotten little brat....does he know how to play us or what? You gotta give him credit for breaking us both.

Sunday...Terry and I start the discussions again....we have to do something!

And then, an idea hit me...if he is used to our big bed with the blankets and pillows and all...would a regular mattress work in his room?

Out goes the crib and in goes the top mattress of our guest rooms double bed...two small pillows, lots of cuddly friends...would it work?

YES IT DID!!!

Sunday night....only 2 pacifier emergencies...nap times? Piece of cake...and the best thing about it? When he wakes up the in the morning, I get out of my bed, crawl into Trevor's bed and we rest for a few minutes before starting our day. Terry has confessed to sleeping with Trevor in his bed as well - falling asleep during the pacifier emergencies...hilarious!!

So....no more co-sleeping...Trevor has graduated to a regular bed at 6 months - the crib is being packed up today and we will all conitue to get normal sleep. Things just couldn't be better!!

Our Boy Trevor

He's such a funny little guy...so agreeable (even through the teething, which really hasn't been all that bad) and happy and content. When we have friends over, he absolutely HAS to be with us (like he might miss something if he wasn't around).

With the teething, naturally, everything is going in his mouth. His favorite thing right now are these rubbery Gerber spoons I bought. I thought they would be nice for his to have when we feed him, but he turned it around and uses the handle to chew on. What a wonderful item...I actually plan on buying some more so we can take them everywhere...it's THE PERFECT chewie!!

Trevor is also getting used to sitting up on his butt. With the Boppy, he can manage to keep himself from tipping over and taking nose-dives(which still happen). He is a total TV junkie and is mezmerized by the magic box. Just don't get in his line of view or else he gets very upset!!

My New Throne

Yep...time for me to have a proper high chair...and boy is it comfortable!!! Aunt Claudia calls it a "Rolls Royce" and it is really cool. Mommy tells me that from now on when we go places I get to sit in the big boy chairs...I am very excited.

I can also grab my bottle and feed myself!! Mommy was so surprised to see me grab it off of my tray and play around with it, let alone make its way to my mouth. I like this independence thing. Well....at least when I am not sleeping...I still like to sleep with Mommy & Daddy, but one day I'll be big enough to sleep on my own. One day.

Trevor's U-5 Well Baby Check Up

on 10 January, Trevor had his next wellness check up...he is doing extremely well.

Here are his stats: 8200 g -- 18.08 lbs ~ 69.5 cm -- 27.32 inches long

He received the third shot in his vaccination series and didn't even peep...no crying, no squirming...nothing! he's one super tough little guy!!

We are very proud of his growth and how agreeable he is with getting poked and prodded and checked over...

It totally helps that he is a total flirt with the ladies - including his Doc. He LOOOVES HER!!

His 6th month has been chocked full of new things -- at our appointment, Dr. Wild asked if Trevor had started rolling over, and of course, he had not...he seemed to be too lazy to do such an activity. So she showed us a way to help him practice. Wouldn't you know...that afternoon Trevor was the new Rollie Pollie Ollie...he hasn't laid still ever since that visit with the Doc.

6 months has also brought a first tooth (bottom right) and the second (bottom left) expected to pop any day. He is now fairly accomplished at balancing on his butt (sitting up) and can grab his little bottle and give himself some drink.

We are still working on the independent sleeping thing, but when that gets tackled, that will be a post all its own!!

Our New Year Baby

We had a great time for New Years. I fell asleep a little later than normal, but that was okay. You know, when there is something going on in the house, I have to be nosey and see what is going on. Once I see there isn't anything really special happening, I am very content to go back to bed.

But, when midnight struck, I freaked out!! What was all that noise?? The fireworks scared me really bad and Daddy couldn't console me...so he got me Mommy and she got me out of bed, wrapped me up in Meme's afghan and took me outside so I could see what all the fuss was about...

The fireworks were awesome and we all had a good time making noise. I was really calm as soon as I got outside. Mommy said she thought that was weird, but chalks it up to my nosey-ness.

Anyway...at least I got to be there when everyone celebrated the ringing in of 2007...

then I went back to bed.

Here I am again...

My Big Sister ~ Kelley

Here she is ~ my big sister, Kelley.

She came down from Belgium to spend the holidays with us. She was really cool...she played with me all the time...she helped feed me, change me and bathe me. We had a good time together.

I miss her already and can't wait for her to come back!!

My First Christmas

Wow! What a crazy day!! When I went to bed, everything seemed somewhat normal...but then...gee whiz!! Big colorful boxes everywhere...everyone ripping up paper and "ooh-ing" and "aah-ing"... bright, noisy things being shown to me from every direction....it was a bit overwhelming...

But very cool! After my nap, Mommy, Daddy & Kelley all took turns showing me all of my new stuff...this Santa guy rocks! So do Meme and Grandma...

Here I am in 2 of my 3 Christmas outfits...you'll have to go to the garbo gang to check out all of our photos.

Me being cute

These are just some of my cute photos Mommy took recently....
