U - 6 -- The one year check-up

Well...it's hard to believe that this day finally arrived. We had made this appointment about 3 months ago and well...like I said, it's hard to believe that this time has arrived. So...I know you are all dying to know the details - here they are:

Weight: 10.5 grams (23.1 lbs)
Length: 77.5 cm (30.5 inches)
Head Circumference: 47.5 cm (18.75 inches)

Dr. Wild was amazed at his power and strength and his openness. Yep, Trevor is one friendly kid -- there aren't many people he won't open his arms to. So, yes, personable, very active, curious - it's all super duper!

We received the green light to move to whole milk and when I asked what foods are still off limits she said, "Nothing really. You might want to wait a while before you give him those American beans...you know, how do you call them? Baked beans?" Baked beans? That is what we are supposed to wait for? Are you kidding me? He had those ages ago, but for some reason she thought those would be a little tough on his stomach...um, yeah right!

But like I said, we got the green light for everything - eggs, shrimp, fish and other shellfish, peas, whatever...Cool! No more formula! No more jarred food! Yippee! Now, as "Mommy" I have to get a little creative with what we are going to be eating now...but hoorah for Trevor!

Last week we had some incredible sun and warm temps...so, Trevor slipped on his swimming trunks and got to have a nice time in his little pool....

Of course, the past few days have been chilly and rainy, so no more pool for a little while. That's Germany's weather for ya!

Daddy's Day

My Daddy had a special day -- just for him. We gave him so cool stuff -- a t-shirt that I put my handprints on, a coffee table book of Beers around the world and Mommy gave him a universal remote control (whatever that is).

Then, Auntie Claudia and Uncle Mishy came over and we went to this really cool park - it has a lake and this massive playground that is wicked cool. My sister, Cheyenne, is really going to dig it.

Auntie Claudia had lots of fun with me - she took me down the slide and we did some time on the swings and then Mommy joined us for a good time on the see-saw. Boy was that great -- Auntie Claudia is so cool...I have SO much fun playing with her!

We all went there because there was an Irish band playing that Auntie Claudia wanted to check out. It was pretty cool. I was clapping my hands to the music and dancing and bopping around in my stroller. We didn't stay too long because I was getting antsy and wanted to get some dinner at home. So we took off and Claudia and Mishy met us back at our house later on.

It was a great day, we all had a lot of fun and next year, Daddy's day is going to be even better!

The Twelfth Month

So...here we are, Trevor finishing off his first year (which I just cannot CANNOT believe) and let me tell ya...he's completing it with a bang...

Imagine...he's 2 weeks to finish the year and in the past two weeks, he has cut 3 teeth, with another one on its way...as you can guess, he hasn't been such a sweet and lovable kid -- okay, he's totally sweet and lovable, it's just been a bit more trying these days.

And we have entered into a phase we like to call, "the no more sleeping with mommy & daddy transition" ... AKA torturous hell! the screaming and crying and rolling around and thumping of the head against anything he can find. My Lord! He can be very dramatic when he wants to be -- must be a trait he gets from his father ; >

So...we've got playgroup dates to meet, we've got (almost) 8 teeth, we're practicing walking and talking, drinking from cups and all sorts of other feats of independence.

Keep checking back as we have tons going on this summer...starting with Trevor's 1st, then Meme & Grandpa Fritz's arrival, Kelley & Cheyenne's summer visit, fests, parties, trips and tours...the first few weeks of Trevor's second year are going to be a blur of fun activities!

A Day at the Park

I have been obsessed with finding a park to take Trevor to, ever since my friend Jenny said she takes her daughter to go swing.

There are lots of parks in our village (as there are in every village) but most of them are for bigger toddler kids. I need the baby swings and those aren't so easy to find.

I also knew that there are parks on base, but from experience of living on base, I knew that they are typically reserved for that block of housing...so the quest to find "open to the public" playgrounds with baby swings went into action today.

We decided to look on the base closest to us first and as we drove around all the schools and through the neighborhoods, we came across a park that looked pretty good. It seemed to be open to everyone, so we decided this was the one to check out.

Trevor was absolutely fascinated -- we put him on one of those rocking animals on a the giantic spring thing...but he wasn't so interested in that...he prefered to check out the bouncy rubbery flooring on the ground...once one of the baby swings opened up, we threw him in --- he wasn't so sure what to think about it...he didn't cry but he wasn't laughing either.

So then, we took him onto the jungle gym sort of thing. He loved crawling up and down that ramp...must have done it a hundred times, singing the whole time. He was interested in another little boy (probably about 6-8 months older) and followed him around for a little bit.

Then it was back in the swing for a little bit more action there and then onto the hill covered in woodchips for a little bit of exposure to some nature.

He seemed to have a great time, burned a lot of energy and got lots of fresh air.

Terry said as we walked into the play area..."Can you believe we are playground parents now?!" LMAO I never thought it would really happen to me...but I love it!
